PhD in Economics, University of Texas at Austin. Before his present position as IMCO’s CEO, he was Agricultural Business Development Under Secretary for SAGARPA and FEESA’s (Expropriated Sugar Sector Enterprises Fund) General Manager.

Along his long professional career as consultant for McKinsey & Company (1984-2001), he headed a good number of projects for financial, governmental, and telecommunications institutions in Mexico, Latin America and the US. In regards to teaching, he was Academic Director of the Institute of Bank and Finance and professor at the Universidad de las Américas.

He is coauthor of 2 books: Dangerous Markets: Managing in Financial Crises (Wiley & Sons, New York, 2002) y Mexico’s Dilemma, The Political Origins of Economic Crisis (Westview Press, Denver, 1984). Besides, he has published more than 30 articles and essays in various magazines and textbooks.
